The GMC you knew, the one that’s been building tough, capable trucks for decades, didn’t leave any of that grit when it went electric. Far from it. All that hard-earned know-how got carried over, just reimagined for the EV age. So, what does that look like in the 2025 GMC Sierra EV? Let’s break it down.
1. Max-Range Battery
Just enough range? That’s not what you’re after. You want the freedom to go further, do more, and worry less about finding the next charge. With the Sierra EV’s max range battery, you’re looking at up to 460 miles on a single charge. For some perspective, the Ford F-150 Lighting caps out at 320 miles, the Rivian R1T hits 420 miles, and the Cybertruck Long Range manages around 350 miles.
2. Easy Charging
You’re never far away from a quick top-up with the Sierra EV. Charge it overnight at home, and wake ready to move. If you’re running low during the day, just plug it in at work (or anywhere) using your portable EV charging cord. Thanks to fast charging capability, this truck can juice up at rates up to 350 kW. In real-world terms, you can add nearly 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

3. Four-Wheel Steering
Four-wheel steering boosts maneuverability by syncing your front and rear wheels in specific ways. The 2025 Sierra EV allows you to operate this feature in three modes: Automatic (default), CrabWalk, and Off. In Automatic Mode at low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, drastically reducing the turning radius. At high speeds, the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels, which increases stability and handling during lane changes.
CrabWalk, on the other hand, lets the truck move diagonally at low speeds, making it perfect for tricky off-road trails or tight worksite maneuvers. And when you don’t need the extra assistance, you can switch it off entirely.
4. MultiPro Midgate
How do you turn a short-bed pickup into a long-bed pickup? If you’ve got anything other than a GMC, that probably means trading it in or getting creative with bungee cords. But the Sierra EV has a smarter solution. Fold the rear seats, remove the rear glass, and drop the Midgate to extend your bed into the cab. Pair it with the load stop, and now you’ve got up to 10 feet 10 inches of usable length.
